Apple today released Apple iOS 18.2 Features, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, but not everything went as expected. Some aspects have been left out once again.
Apple has said that some of the Apple Intelligence features that Apple claimed were coming “later this year” will actually be available “in the coming months,” suggesting that they will be available in early 2025. The company issued a press release to announce the start of the second rollout of Apple Intelligence capabilities. And it reveals that many of the predicted AI features are significantly delayed.
Apple’s unique emoji generator, Genmoji, for example, is now available on iPhone and iPad with iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2; Mac owners will have to wait a little longer, as Genmoji is a no-show in macOS Sequoia 15.2. Instead, Apple said, “Genmoji will be available on Mac in the coming months.”
Genmoji, which is accessible from a special button on the emoji keyboard, lets you explain your unique emoji with a short text description, like “Smiley relaxing while wearing a cucumber.” To make a Genmoji that resembles someone in your People album, select a picture of them too. Genmojis are sent as regular photos for consistency.
Another Apple intelligence tool coming is Priority Suggestions. Priority Suggestions uses artificial intelligence to highlight the most critical items at the top of the stack. Starting today, Priority Notifications is available on Apple, iPad, and Mac devices, but is “coming soon.”
Using Apple intelligence to understand the content of notifications and limit distractions the system deems important, Apple iOS 18.2 Features , iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 introduced a new Focus mode to reduce distractions.

Apple intelligence also includes Sketch Style in Image Playground, an AI image creation tool. Apple notes that this style is “designed to output an educational and highly detailed style that uses a rich color palette combined with technical lines to create realistic drawings.” Apple’s press release discusses the feature without mentioning when it might drop in the future.
Apple’s press release explains that the first set of Apple Intelligence languages will “come in a software update in April.” When Apple says these features are coming in the coming months, that means spring 2025 (iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3). Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese are the new Apple Intelligence languages coming in 2025.
Apple iOS 18.2 Features
Siri, coming in 2025, is more capable. Siri will be able to use your unique context to provide intelligence specifically for you, so you can ask personalized contextual questions like “When is my mom’s flight?” The assistant will pick up hundreds of new actions to use across Apple and third-party apps, in addition to learning what’s on the screen.
Apple also highlighted that iPhone and iPad customers in the European Union will be able to get Apple Intelligence, including writing tools, Genmoji, improved language understanding, ChatGPT integration, and a better Siri. The capability will have to wait until April 2025.
While the slow rollout of Apple Intelligence isn’t surprising, it’s interesting that Genmoji is now available on iPhone and iPad but not on Mac, and that priority notifications are taking so long.
